UMU COOMBER, BSN,MSN, ARNP, PMHNP
About Me
Hello and welcome—I’m Umu Coomber, a Board-Certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with over 21 years of clinical experience, including years in psychiatric prescribing. I bring specialized training in integrative, functional, and nutritional psychiatry, allowing me to offer a truly comprehensive and personalized approach to mental health care.
My practice is grounded in the belief that healing happens when we treat the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. I work with adolescents, young adults, and adults, supporting those navigating depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, late diagnosis autism, late diagnosis autism in women, and more.
My style is warm, holistic, and solution-oriented, and I strive to create a compassionate, non-judgmental space where your voice is central to every decision we make together.
In our work, you can expect a collaborative relationship focused on identifying root causes—not just managing symptoms. I often incorporate lifestyle interventions, nutritional strategies, and, when appropriate, medication management. My diverse clinical background in emergency medicine, critical care, and psychiatry informs the depth and flexibility of my care.
My practice is inclusive and affirming of all faiths, gender identities, and sexual orientations, including those within the LGBTQIA+ community. I also offer care that thoughtfully integrates both faith and science for clients seeking a healing approach that honors the importance of both
Seeking help is an act of courage. You’re not alone—and I’m here to walk with you.
What to Expect in Our Work Together
Our first session is about understanding your unique story. From there, we co-create a treatment plan tailored to your needs, values, and goals. I may draw from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention, Motivational Interviewing, and Positive Psychology. We’ll also explore how nutrition, sleep, stress, relationships, and life transitions impact your mental wellness.
